Hala Tawil is a Lebanese visual artist, based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. She studied architecture at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
She has dabbled with various artistic mediums, but has since focused her practice on producing digital work, with a mix of digital collage, 3d modelling and rendering. Her work explores themes of feminine isolation, desire, and dissociation... concerns which she also believes are part and parcel of the artistic and creative process.
Hala Tawil constructs interior views and framed spaces that play on gazing and voyeurism. Fragments of the female form occupy the rooms, and are often in states of stagnant leisure. Tawil's work invites the viewer to speculate on the narrative behind the image, and reflect on the role of mystery and incompletion in provoking curiosity and desire.
